There are many board games available and backgammon is among the oldest of them. The game is played by moving pieces on the board according to the roll of dice. In order to win a player should remove all the pieces from the backgammon table. Backgammon is played in a number of games and is a very popular board game.

It is often believed that luck is the main deciding factor behind winning backgammon games. It is not completely true, as careful planning and strategies are also required.  The player should be well prepared to counter strike and to anticipate moves by the opponent.

It has some similar properties to chess and it is studied and analyzed by professionals and the availability of backgammon tables online became a reality.  The pieces in the backgammon table are classified into checkers, stones, counters, chips, draughts, men and pawns. The main objective is of the game is to clear one’s own pieces from the backgammon board before the opponent is capable of doing so.  The game is played in short matches where points are awarded to the player who clears off the pieces from his board.

The backgammon table is laid out into twelve triangles. These triangles are referred to as points. All the points in the backgammon board are joined together and they resemble a horse shoe.  The game is played by rolling dice and some rules are followed while doing so. The dice should fall on the right hand side of the board and both the players roll the dice alternatively.  A special purpose dice called the doubling cube is used sometimes. This is done in order to increase the game speed and in order to make the game filled with strategies.  There are many rules used in the game like the Crawford rule, Murphy rule and the Jacoby rule.
