Backgammon Strategies
The ABC of backgammon strategies:
The main aim of the game of backgammon is to move your pieces along the board and to have them off the board before your opponent, who also tries to do the same with his pieces or against your pieces. You need both planning and a bit of luck to win a game of backgammon. Luck plays an important role in this game since you can move your pieces only by the number of steps that shows up on your dice while strategy is important as it is what determines how you move your pieces. These are the strategies that teach you how to win at the backgammon table:
- Running game: This strategy emphasizes ob bringing all your pieces to the centre of the board and then moving them off one by one. It stresses on how fast you can move your pieces without hitting or blocking the piece of your opponent. You can use this strategy in times when all of your pieces are farther than those of the opponent, you have fewer pieces left than your opponent or when the opponent does not use the strategy of hitting or blocking.
- The blocking strategy: This strategy works on backgammon tables by blocking the pieces of the opponent and not bothering much about moving your own pieces. Once you have blocked the opponent’s pieces with a couple of your pieces, you could move the rest of your pieces off the board. You should also have planned on how you will withdraw and move the pieces that are being used t block the opponent’s pieces.
- Priming game strategy: The priming game strategy aims at completely blocking any possible movement of the opponent’s pieces by building a wall or a prime around them. The prime should be such that the pieces of the opponent either get hit or damaged when they try to cross the wall. Once you have built a strong prime, the opponent will not even get a chance to roll the dice to move his pieces and you will alone roll the dice and move your pieces. So, victory is surely yours.
